The main objective of TWINCLETOES is to develop an industrial process for converting a waste bi-product from recycled tyres in to a valuable reinforcing material for which there is a large, proven market in concrete construction.
The R&D phase was recently completed with the conclusion of the highly successful FP6-funded ECOLANES project. This resolved industrial process issues regarding cleaning and sorting of the fibres and their dispersal in to fresh concrete and allowed four major demonstration projects to be successfully constructed.
An immediate market for 10,000 tonnes per annum has been secured and the project will make available further market opportunities and a growing industrial production.
