ETRA attended the IFME World Congress on Municipal Engineering from 24 to 29 August in Kansas City, Missouri.The IFME 19th World Congress was held in conjunction with the 2018 APWA (American Public Works Association) PWX Public Works Expo.
The theme for this premier public works event wasThe Power of Public Works. The primary education tracks for the 2018 PWX included: Emergency Management, Facilities Management; Fleet Services Management, Grounds, Parks and Urban Forestry Management, Leadership Approaches and Professional Development.
A series of meetings was organised between ETRA and public officers from European and US Municipalities, in the frame of the cooperation started in 2014 with IFME and its Italian member ANTEL. A key objective of the IFME is to foster technical and cultural exchanges between municipal and public works engineers, worldwide. International exchanges of information, innovations, skills and experience is critical in today's global world and market place
IFME’s mission is to connect Municipal Engineers and Public Works Professionals, Public Agencies, Organisations, Institutions and Businesses around the world in order to share a global pool of knowledge and experience. The aim is to foster continued improvement in the quality of public works and the wider community-services activities.
Recycled Tyre Materials represent a new option for public works, as they offer a wide range of sustainable uses and applications, with good performance.
IFME bgan in 1960, when the inaugural Assembly of the Federation took place at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. It is a Federation open to professional municipal engineers and public works professionals through their own national municipal engineering associations.
The congress and the expositionin Kansas City was widely attended by both Public Administrations and Private companies. ETRA, IFME and ANTEL are further developing their cooperation in order to offer opportunities to expand the market for RTMs.
