On 28 and 29 November the ESTO Congress was held in Prague. Key operators of the sector took part in various events and activities organised to provide updates about materials, products, technologies and more, and to discuss the relevant issues of the moment.
The ESTO team organised a maintenance demonstration of synthetic football fields at the DEDINA sport centre. Dedina is an up-to-the moment facility that offers opportunities for the residential community as well as with the broader social and school systems.
It is a very well managed sport centre, for foot-ball, tennis and other sports, that provide access to hundreds of players and youth, as well as the general population, including adults and seniors. The sports centre is the result of an urban redevelopment project that re-developed the area in order to offer inhabitants of all ages a social environment and a lively place to meet and do sports.
The demonstration was accompanied by a very interesting seminar that offered detailed insights into the concerns surrounding the issues of the unmotivated fear of risks for human health from SBR rubber infill, that is perpetuated today – but still unproven. However some good teams are working together to further test the infill materials with the goal of finally putting these concerns to rest.
ETRA introduced the tyre recycling sector and offered an opportunity for cooperation in the field of new projects on infill materials and on end of life solutions.
The programme was well organised and offered a variety of networking opportunities. The next ESTO meetings will be held in London in February 2018.
