On Sunday, 11 June, Oko-gum the Hungarian Tyre Collection and Recycling organisation (www.okogum.hu), held a full day event on the grounds of the national Parliament in Budapest. The Parliament parking lot immediately in front of the magnificent building, was temporarily paved with a wide range of sports surfaces provided by Oko-gum members and available for the children to play on.

Several thousand people, many with young children, participated in the day which included childrens’ games and sports including basketball and soccer, volley ball and other games. Local crafts
people displayed their wares and others offered refreshements.

A giant puppet parade entertained the children and their families and local school children performed folkloric dances.

The press, the national and regional broadcasters dedicated wide ranging coverage to the activities.
